Programs for the Youth

The goal of all youth programs at Hope Lutheran Church is to teach each young person about the life and resurrection of our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   The programs strive to instill in all children the love of God and His plan for their lives through an understanding of God’s Word using active Bible Study and prayer as the cornerstone of learning.  Each program is planned and geared to the age of the participant.

SUNDAY SCHOOL is offered for children from Preschool age through grade 8 during the months of September through May.  The children meet in the Fellowship Hall after they are excused from Church during the 9:30 am service.  Each Sunday begins with the gathering of all children for a devotional opening that includes prayer, object lessons, puppetry, and song. The children then divide into smaller groups with individual teachers for age-appropriate Bible study. A snack is served at the completion of each Sunday school session.

Summer Children's Church - During the summer months, this alternative program for children ages three to ten is offered.  Parents are invited to bring their children to church at 9:30 am for Sunday worship.  They will attend the service through the completion of Pastor Browning's children's message and then teachers will usher the children to the Fellowship Hall for a simplified and fun activity-driven Bible study.  This program will include puppetry, videos, music and crafts.

CONFIRMATION is a 28-30 week course that meets on Monday evenings at 5:00 in the Fellowship Hall and is offered for children in grades 6 and 7 who wish to become confirmed members of Hope Lutheran Church.  Students in grade 6 study the chief parts of the catechism using Martin Luther’s “Small Catechism” in order to gain a thorough understanding of the church’s beliefs and doctrines.  Grade 7 students actively study the Bible in order to understand God’s Word and His plan for their lives through active church participation.
